On 20th June Brenda Godrich will be coming back for a one-off calling. Live music by Mollie Koenigsberger.
Louise Siddons called a wonderful programme of 17th and 18th century English dances and it was gratifying to see how little calling we needed once we had danced a couple of turns of Jaque Latin and De'il Tak the War.
We tried out the new dance, Deeds, Not Words, written by Hazel Moir to a tune by Rebecca King, commemorating 100 years of women's suffrage. It was the first time the group has "workshopped" a new dance and we found some parts easier than others.
We didn't seem to have much memory of Bonny Kate of Perth - muscle or otherwise! - which we'll need to revise. After tea, we enjoyed Excuse Me, Well Hall and Once a Night.
We won't put her through the ordeal of calling without a mic again!
Members of Camden FDC had a really enjoyable evening with Thomas Bending calling last night. Thomas' used his "day job" skills in a programme that brought everyone onto the floor for almost every dance, and drew particular attention to the bands whose music he played, including Albireo and Contrasaurus.
We danced 'Hole in the Wall', 'Well Hall', 'Sussex Gardens' and Colin Hume's 'Helena'. Thomas introduced 'Something Elche' for sets of six couples, with an unusual grand square, and 'Precious Treasure'. Another dance new to us was 'Delphiniums & Daisies'.
Sandra brought cupcakes, which added to the pleasure of the evening.
We had a smashing evening dancing to Peter Leedham's calling. He didn't use a mic, which allowed him to move about the floor and contributed to the atmosphere. His programme included a couple of less known "Playford" dances and Fried de Metz Herman's 'Six for the Six Proud Walkers', which we hadn't encountered. After the break, we enjoyed Gary Roodman's 'Terpsicourante' and had a go at Wendy Crouch's 'Winter Solstice'. Peter ended the evening with a tribute to the late John Woods and one of his dances.
We hope he and Joyce will come back!
A longtime dancer, Louise has been calling English Country Dance in USA. for the past decade.

And thank you to so many who are helping to keep the evenings running.
Thomas Bending calls English folk dances at clubs and events around England and the United States when he isn't dancing, leading Monday Musicians at Cecil Sharp House, playing with the band, Momentum, or building mathematical constructions you can admire on Facebook.
Primrose Hill Community Centre is a lovely venue. A good floor, ample space to dance, and comfortable seating for interval tea and coffee.
Thank you David for calling a really good evening with a mixture of easy dances and really challenging ones.
Welcome to some new people as well as familiar faces.
