We had a fine evening's dancing to Peter Leedham's programme, enhanced by Joyce Leedham's joining us on the floor, where she provided a model, as well as any necessary help and encouragement. People commented on the clarity of his calling and teaching, and the technical points were appreciated.
The varied programme included: Swirl of the Sea, which was new to us; Fried de Metz Herman's Peace be With You; Apley House (1702) and Ramsgate Assembly (1795); Bar a Bar (Walsh, 1718), Sybil's Roundabout, and A Brief Encounter. After tea, we danced The Sticher's Birthday, John Wood's Millfield House, the lovely Another Nancy's Fancy by Pat Shaw (which stretched us) and Heptathlon Jig (a favourite with our chairperson)

We had a smashing evening dancing to Peter Leedham's calling. He didn't use a mic, which allowed him to move about the floor and contributed to the atmosphere. His programme included a couple of less known "Playford" dances and Fried de Metz Herman's 'Six for the Six Proud Walkers', which we hadn't encountered. After the break, we enjoyed Gary Roodman's 'Terpsicourante' and had a go at Wendy Crouch's 'Winter Solstice'. Peter ended the evening with a tribute to the late John Woods and one of his dances. We hope he and Joyce will come back! |
